I was so excited to meet Carter, and capture his first portraits….he is one very special, very loved little boy! He was quite alert and inquisitive for much of his session, not wanting to miss a thing 😉 Even though he put up a fight, eventually he gave up and had a good sleep for us. I’m sure that strong spirit will serve him well out on the hockey rink 🙂
A quick personal post today – I have been wanting to capture a sunset silhouette of my boys together for a little while now, and figured I’d better make it happen sooner rather than later with the time change coming next week. You see, Max is definitely a creature of habit, and he likes to stick to his 7:30 pm bedtime 😉 If not….let’s just say it would be a VERY long drive home from the park!! So, it was now or wait until Fall to capture an image after the sun went down. A huge thank you to my Dad for coming with me for our quick 5 minute “shoot”….it was pretty cold, and he helped get the boys organized so I could fire off a few shots and then bundle them right back up 🙂 I am always amazed at just how beautiful the sky is at sunset…the colours appear and change so quickly, and disappear just as fast – These were taken just a minute apart from different vantage points, and the differences in the colours is so amazing. I’m happy I was able to capture my boys with such a spectacular backdrop ♥

I have been so lucky lately…my last two mamas have both been ABSOLUTELY STUNNING and SO BRAVE! Capturing maternity images outside in the middle of Winter (wearing only dresses!) is not for the faint of heart! Alisha and I set out on a gorgeous {and cold!!} sunny evening to take her maternity portraits. Even though it was way more windy than it was forecasted to be, she didn’t complain at all and stayed out with me until after the sun went down. I cannot wait to meet the precious little one in her perfectly round belly…her newborn session will be the fifth time capturing her beautiful family. I love nothing more than to watch “my” families grow over time by documenting them through my lens. Capturing these special moments in their lives is such an honour and a privilege ♥

What a brave mama Christine is! She was such a trooper trudging through the snow in order to capture her maternity portraits. You may remember Malcolm and Bella from their beautiful family session last Fall at their farm…they are two amazing kids, and I was so excited when their mom suggested I join them at the hill to capture them doing their favourite Winter sport-skiiing! This was the first time I have taken sports-related action images so I was a little nervous, but decided I was up for the challenge…am I ever glad I did! I had such a blast hanging out with them on the slopes…I truly love capturing real-life moments that will be treasured forever, and this session is the perfect example of that! At just 7 years old Malcolm is a real dare devil, keeping up with all the bigger kids on tricky ski jumps, and can even land a three-sixty! Five year old Bella just about keeps up with Malcolm, and landed some pretty cool jumps herself! Thanks for having me capture you guys rocking it on the slopes, Malcolm and Bella!!
